Summer is here and there’s no better place to spend your sunniest days than at Assiniboine Park! Spanning over 400 acres, Assiniboine Park is the ideal place to make lasting memories, learn more about the world around you, and, most importantly, have FUN! Plus, with the free Domo Trolley running all summer long, it’s never been easier to travel around the Park and take in the sights with ease.

Here’s how we’d enjoy the perfect summer day at Assiniboine Park.

9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. | Assiniboine Park Zoo

Spend the morning waking up alongside the over 150 wildlife species at the Assiniboine Park Zoo, including rare and exotic birds, fish, and mammals. As you explore the Zoo, join in on our daily Zoo chats where our animal care professionals share more about the animals in our care and how we care for them year round. Don't miss our Journey to Churchill exhibit while you're here and make sure to check out our two summer exhibits - Defenses of the Animal Kingdom and Xtreme Bugs. After all your adventuring, treat yourself to an ice cream at Winston’s or with a memento or two at our Wild Things Unique Gift shop.

Hop on the Domo Trolley to make your way to The Leaf, the Park’s spectacular indoor horticultural attraction. Watch life grow here with our Hartley and Heather Richardson Tropical Biome, Mediterranean biomes, Babs Asper Display House, and Shirley Richardson Butterfly Garden. Enjoy the plant life outside with our six gardens to explore, including the Indigenous Peoples Garden and Kitchen Garden. If you’re looking for a great place to stop for lunch, look no further than Gather Craft Kitchen & Bar for a delicious meal and refreshing drink in the dining room or on the patio. If you’d rather have a quick pick-me-up, our Coffee Bar in The Leaf will be just what you need.

2:00 - 3:30 p.m. | Assiniboine Park

Make your way through the Park after The Leaf (the Domo Trolley will drop you off at the foot bridge to Portage Ave.) and spend the afternoon exploring the sights! Watch the ducks enjoying the Riley Family Duck Pond, check out the newly refurbished Nature Playground, cruise around in a bike rental from Bee2Gether Rental Bikes, and for when you need time to cool down, escape the heat at the Pavilion where you can enjoy the art galleries free of charge. If you’re looking for a late afternoon snack, there’s always the handy Park Treats window at the Park Café for an ice cream, a refreshing drink, or select items from the restaurant menu.
